EULEX indicts eight judges in corruption case

A EULEX prosecutor from the Special Prosecution Office of Kosovo (SPRK) has filed an indictment against ten defendants in a corruption case. The defendants include the former President of the Municipal Court of Prishtina, four former judges of the Municipal Court of Prishtina, three former District Court judges, one lawyer and one representative of a Socially Owned Enterprise (SOE).

The prosecutor indicted the former President of the Municipal Court for the criminal offences of abusing official position and authority and assistance in issuing unlawful judicial decision. The seven former judges were charged with the criminal offences of abusing official position and authority and issuing unlawful judicial decision. The representative of the Socially Owned Enterprise and the lawyer are charged with the criminal offences of assistance in abusing official position and authority and assistance in issuing unlawful judicial decision.

The defendants are suspected to have been involved in 15 civil cases related to ownership claims against Socially Owned Enterprise (SOE), which were under the competence of the Special Chamber of the Supreme Court of Kosovo. The defendants were involved in different roles, based on their work and profession.

The case is being prosecuted by a EULEX prosecutor of the Special Prosecution Office of Kosovo (SPRK).
