Trial to continue against four defendants on the Klecka case

30 March 2012

30 March 2012

A mixed panel of two EULEX judges and one local judge of the Prishtine/Pristina District Court on March 30, 2012 decided to reopen the trial against four of the defendants in the A.K. et al. known as the Klecka case. The proceedings will continue against the defendants F.L., N.K., N.K. and N.S.

The main trial is being re-opened against these individuals because the panel of judges deem that there is enough evidence on the issue of ‘command responsibility’ against those defendants, without taking into consideration the evidence of A.Z. (WitnessX), to require proper determination by the trial panel after hearing witnesses.

The trial panel rejected one charge against A.K. and acquitted him on two other counts of the indictment. The defendants B.L., R.M., S.S., S.S. and B.S. were acquitted of all charges.

The case is being prosecuted by a EULEX prosecutor from the Special Prosecution Office at the Prishtine/Pristina District Court.
