The great debate in the north

As part of EULEX’s continuing efforts to engage with the local community and explain the role of the Mission, a special television debate was held at TV Most in north Mitrovica.

The Head of EULEX, Yves de Kermabon and the Heads of EULEX’s Justice and Customs Components Alberto Perduca and Paul Acda and the Deputy Head of EULEX’s Police Component, Lambert Lucas, took part.

Four representatives from the Serbian community were present: Radenko Nedeljković (Head of Kosovska Mitrovica District), Rada Trajković (Vice-President of the Serbian Council for Central Kosovo), Nebojša Jović (President of the Serbian National Council for Northern Kosovo) and Milan Bigović, Public Prosecutor.

They debated a wide range of issues including the controversial building of houses at Kroi i Vitakut / Brdjani, the Kosovo Police, the work of the court in Mitrovicë/a and customs issues.

The debate was held in a positive and forthright manner and is only the start of a continuing engagement between EULEX and communities in the north.
