On the 5th September 2025, 74 Polish Police Officers from the XXXVII Rotation of the Formed Police Unit (FPU) of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) received the EU Common Security and Defence Policy’s Medal of Service, a recognition awarded by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs/Vice President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas.
The Head of EULEX, Giovanni Pietro Barbano, hosted the solemn ceremony, held at the EULEX Centre Mitrovica in the presence of a high-ranking Polish delegation led by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Polish Police, General Dr. Rafał Kochańczyk, of the Deputy Commander of the NATO-led mission KFOR, Brigadier General Cahit Írícan, of the Deputy General Director of the Kosovo Police for Resources, Dejan Janković, representatives from international organizations and other distinguished guests.
Addressing the medal recipients, Barbano emphasized the outmost importance of their service, reminding that their unwavering readiness and vigilance allowed the Mission to remain poised to act in support of stability and the rule of law, serving as the backbone of EULEX’s role as a second security responder in Kosovo.
Praising the outstanding FPU Officers’ contribution to EULEX, Kochańczyk stressed that their participation in this Mission fully represents Poland’s values abroad.
