Following a trial, prosecuted by an international prosecutor from the Basic Prosecution Office, a panel of judges from the Basic Court in Prizren today convicted defendant, N.K., for Murder, Article 146, and Attempted Murder resulting in Light Bodily Harm, Article 146 in conjunction with Article 20 and Article 53(1) and (2) of the Provisional Criminal Code of Kosovo, and sentenced him to eleven (11) years of imprisonment.
It was found that N.K. shot and killed a 25 year old victim on 2 February 2011 in Prizren and in doing so exceeded the limits of any necessary self-defense. It was also found that he shot the victim's father, with the intention of killing him, which resulted in light bodily harm.
The case was investigated in a mixed team by an international prosecutor and a state prosecutor from the Basic Prosecution Office, in conjunction with the Kosovo Police.
