Today, the EULEX Head of Mission, Bernd Borchardt, has finished a two day official trip to Belgrade where he had meetings with the Serbian Prime Minister, Ivica Dačić, and the first Deputy Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vučić. Borchard also met Minister of Justice and Public Administration Nikola Selaković, and the Minister without Portfolio in charge of Kosovo, Aleksandar Vulin. Amongst the issues discussed the most important was the security related to the upcoming elections in Mitrovica north on Sunday 17 November.
"EULEX together with KP and KFOR will make sure that polling stations, committee members, OSCE facilitators, and voters are secured on 17 November. People can expect bigger presence of security providers which will be able to react immediately if there is any security threat. The talks that I have had with my counter partners in Belgrade regarding the possible obstructing of voting process were very useful, and I am very satisfied," said Mr. Borchardt.
During his visit, Mr. Borchardt also met the EU Delegation in Belgrade, representatives of civil society, and the media.
