For the election in in three polling centres in Mitrovica north this weekend, Kosovo Police (KP), EULEX and KFOR will adopt robust security measures in order to ensure that polling station committees members and the OSCE election facilitators can carry out their work and that the voting process takes place in a peaceful and orderly manner.
People in Mitrovica north can expect an enhanced KP presence outside the polling centres, visibly supported by EULEX. KFOR will be present in the vicinity of the polling centres and in other key areas in order to ensure a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all people in Kosovo, according to its mandate.
The coordination between KP, EULEX, KFOR and the OSCE continues to be excellent.
The Kosovo Police, EULEX and KFOR will remain vigilant and act impartially, prudently and firmly. Should the electoral process be threatened or the safety and security of voters, staff and observers at the polling stations be jeopardised KP, EULEX and KFOR are prepared to intervene immediately.
