A mixed team of a EULEX and a local prosecutor from the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office (SPRK), on 16th September 2013 filed an indictment at the Basic Court of Prishtinë/Priština, charging a defendant with the offences of Unauthorized Purchase, Possession, Distribution and Sale of Dangerous Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and Organised Crime. He is alleged to be responsible for masterminding the trafficking of multiple shipments of heroin overland from Kosovo to the Federal Republic of Germany during 2012 in co-perpetration with other dealers and users who were based in both countries as part of an international criminal group which made the defendant large profits. The investigation in Kosovo was conducted by a Joint Investigation Team of EULEX Police Organised Crime Investigation Unit and Kosovo Police Directorate for the Investigation of Trafficking in Narcotics, in cooperation with the German authorities. The defendant has been in detention on remand since his arrest in January 2013.
