EULEX representatives handed over certified copies of 1013 registry books to the Civil Registration Agency of Kosovo today.
The complete file for the Pristina region was handed over.
The copies have been produced and certified in the last month as part of a large scale project based in Nis, involving EULEX, the EU Office in Kosovo/EUSR, the Danish Refugee Council, and the teams from Kosovo and Serbia.
It is estimated that there are approximately 12,036 registry books in Serbia. The process of certifying copies of the original registry books are part of the EU facilitated dialogue agreement reached on the 2nd of July 2011 between Pristina and Belgrade. This project is the first phase of the establishment of a fully reliable and sustainable Civil Registry in Kosovo as stipulated in the roadmap for a Visa liberalisation
EULEX until now has handed over 2769 certified copies of Civil Registry books, covering the municipalities of Lipjan/Lipjan (848), Obiliq/Obilic (264), Fushë Kosovë/ Kosovo Polje (219) and Gllogoc/Glogovac (425)and Prishtinë/Priština (1013)
