A local pre-trial judge ordered detention on remand for one month against one person of German citizenship. Two other persons were given house detention. The three suspects are charged with a number of corruption related offences including fraud, aggravated theft etc.
The case relates to illegally received payments of 1.4 million Euros from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The money was destined for the Austrian State Printing Company, which was contracted to by the Ministry for the production of biometric passports.
EULEX police and Kosovo Police arrested the suspects during a joint operation two days ago.
The case is being prosecuted by a mixed team of one EULEX and one local district prosecutor.
