The EU Special Representative to Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar and the Head of EULEX, Xavier de Marnhac, have strongly condemned a shooting incident in northern Kosovo today.
One Kosovo Police (KP) officer was slightly injured and a KP and a EULEX vehicle were damaged. A number of masked persons appeared on a road between Zupce and Zubin Potok this morning. They opened fire on the vehicles.
' One KP officer has received injuries. The perpetrators must be brought to justice as soon as possible. I would appeal to all those who have information relating to this incident to contact the police,' said Xavier de Marnhac.
"I thoroughly condemn this act of wanton violence. Lives were put at risk. It illustrates and reinforces the need for greater rule of law in this area of Kosovo. The EUSR and EULEX will continue to work on that jointly," said Samuel Zbogar.
A number of EULEX police officers were travelling to Zubin Potok to carry out their normal duties at the local police station when the attack happened. The KP vehicle was escorting them.
An investigation has begun.
