A mixed panel of two EULEX judges and one local judge at the District Court of Peja found N.V. guilty for the criminal offences of aggravated murder and unauthorized ownership, control, possession or use of weapons. The defendant was sentenced to an aggregate punishment of 16 years of imprisonment.
The first instance court decided that there was enough evidence to convict N.V. for the criminal offences he had been charged with. However, there were many mitigating factors which contributed to a more lenient punishment; one of them being the guilty plea of the accused.
N.V. was found guilty of murdering M.K. and injuring D.B. and D.O. because of a property dispute in the village of Dobrusha, Istog Municipality on 20 October 2011.
The case was prosecuted by a EULEX District Prosecutor.
