EULEX strongly condemns those who carried out an attack in the early hours of today at the crossing point between Kosovo and Serbia at Gate 31. Two hand grenades were thrown; only one of them exploded. One KFOR soldier was injured and material damage was caused. It was only by luck that no one was seriously injured or killed. Such actions are totally unacceptable. An investigation has been launched by EULEX’s Task Force Mitrovica to find the perpetrators. Such an attack is an attack on the international community.
The Gate was closed for a short time while forensic experts examined the scene, but it has now been re-opened. The international community, including KFOR and EULEX, will not be deflected from their work by such cowardly attacks.
