The EULEX Head of Mission, Xavier De Marnhac, and the EU Special Representative/Head of EU Office, Samuel Žbogar, visited the crossing point at Jarinje in the north of Kosovo to gain first-hand knowledge of the current situation at Gate 1. It was the first such visit since normal operations were resumed at the Gate where commercial and non-commercial goods are now being checked.
They travelled to Jarinje by helicopter and spoke to EULEX police and customs officers who are registering and checking documents of traffic passing through the Gate.
“It is important to see that normal work is returning to the Gate. Traffic levels are increasing and, as you can see, we are working very hard to refurbish the Gate,” said de Marnhac.
