The EULEX Head of Mission, Xavier de Marnhac, has completed his visit to Tirana, where he met the Albanian Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Interior Minister. A Technical Arrangement
on police cooperation was signed between EULEX and the Interior Ministry. The Arrangement will help in the fight against organised crime, trafficking and trans-border crime to the benefit of the citizens of the whole region.
The Prime Minister promised the full support of his government for the Special Investigative Task Force investigating the claims made in the Council of Europe Report written by Dick Marty.
“This was a very successful trip,” said Xavier de Marnhac. “Organised crime is a regional phenomena and needs to be tackled on a regional basis. Technical Arrangements like the one we have just signed will really help in this fight. I would also like to thank the Government of Albania for their full willingness to co-operate and support the investigation of the Task Force
in order to determine the truth or otherwise of the allegations that have been made in the Council of Europe Report.”
