On 31 May, 87 Polish members of the Formed Police Unit (FPU) of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) were awarded the European Union’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) service medal, which is awarded by the EU High Representative to all women and men serving in different CSDP missions.
The official ceremony took place at the EULEX Center Mitrovica and was hosted by the Deputy Head of EULEX, Cezary Luba, in the presence of the Polish Ambassador to North Macedonia, Krzysztof Grzelczyk, the Deputy Commander-In-Chief of the Polish Police, Major General Roman Kuster, the Commander of the Police School in Katowice, Colonel Jarosław Gałuszka, and the Head of Foreign Missions and Liaison Officers Division of the International Police Co-operation Bureau, Lieutenant Michał Damps.
On the occasion, the EULEX Reserve Formed Police Unit’s (RFPU) Commander, Major Mariano Bastanza, and the RFPU’s First Platoon Leader, Lieutenant Pasquale Riccardo, were awarded, the Silver and Bronze Medal respectively "For meritorious service to the Police" of the Minister of the Interior and Administration of the Republic of Poland.
