On 17 May, the Head of EULEX’s Press and Public Information Office and Spokesperson, Ioanna Lachana, delivered a lecture on the topic “Why and When to Use the Media for Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Operations” to some 25 participants of the “Peace Support Operations Course”, organized by the Hellenic Multinational Peace Support Operations Training Center from 15 to 18 May 2023 at the premises of the South-East Europe Brigade, located in Kumanovo, North Macedonia.

Lachana’s lecture focused on the application of the peace journalism theory by the press offices of international organizations dealing with security-related issues. Centering on the example of EULEX, Lachana noted that a tailored communications strategy coupled with a host of communication activities and effective messaging can assist in conflict prevention and conflict de-escalation.
