On 21 January 2024, the Head of Mission of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), Giovanni Pietro Barbano, joined the Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti in attending the commemoration ceremony for the death of Ibrahim Rugova.

“Touched to attend the commemoration event, marking the 18th anniversary of the death of the first President of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova. In the presence of President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, I paid my respect to a man who worked tirelessly for peace,” Barbano said.
