From 6 to 9 June 2024, the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) supported the organization of the 10th edition of the fundraising initiative ‘Cycle Kosovo for Children 2024’. The cycling event was established by former EULEX staff back in 2014 in close coordination with the local NGO Action for Mothers & Children (AMC) with the goal of raising funds for children in Kosovo.
Around 50 cycling enthusiasts from various nationalities - eight of them being EULEX Mission Members– joined this year’s edition, which aimed at collecting donations for essential medical equipment for the Department of Pediatrics at the Main Centre of Family Medicine in Istog/Istok.
The efforts of the cyclists, who embarked on a more than 530 km journey, climbing 7,000 meters around Kosovo, paid off: Thanks to the support of individual donors and private sponsors, the ‘Cycle Kosovo for Children 2024’ raised a total of 19,000 Euro.
The cyclists departed from EULEX HQ in Pristina, where they were warmly seen off by the Head of EULEX, Giovanni Barbano, confirming the Mission’s willingness to actively participate in this initiative. In addition to EULEX Mission Members who participated as cyclists, the Mission also contributed with the attendance of seven EULEX Mission Members as part of the Support Team, three EULEX support vans, and one EULEX Medical team, comprised of one ambulance and one staff member.
Thanks to everyone for such a wholehearted participation!
