EULEX Donates one Vehicle to the Kosovo Ombudsperson Institution to Support its Efforts to Guarantee Human Rights

On the 24th of January, the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) donated one vehicle to the National Preventive Mechanism Against Torture within the Ombudsperson Institution to Support its efforts to prevent and address all forms of ill-treatment to persons deprived of their liberty in Kosovo.

The vehicle donation recognizes the significant and professional work of the Ombudsperson's office in safeguarding the rights of all individuals in Kosovo, and the critical role of the NPM in its tireless efforts to prevent and address torture and ill-treatment in places of deprivation of liberty like correctional facilities and police stations throughout Kosovo.

During the handover ceremony, the Head of Mission of EULEX, Giovanni Pietro Barbano, reaffirmed to the Kosovo Ombudsperson, Naim Qelaj, EULEX's ongoing commitment to strengthening Kosovo's institutions and supporting the independence of the Ombudsperson institution. Barbano also expressed gratitude for the ongoing collaboration with the NPM over the years, renewing the pledge to continue working together to promote human rights and justice for all in Kosovo.
