EULEX Formed Police Unit and Reserve Formed Police Unit Crowd-and-Riot Control Training

On 30th January 2025, members of the Formed Police Unit (FPU) and of the Reserve Formed Police Unit (RFPU) of the European Union Rule of law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) trained together on crowd-and-riot control at the at the NATO-led mission KFOR’s base in Novo Selo in order to strengthen the Mission operational capabilities and promote interoperability between these multinational Units, focusing on the possible need for an operational response.

The training included FPU’s police officers from Poland as well as members of the European Gendarmerie Force (EUROGENDFOR) from the French Gendarmerie Nationale, the Italian Carabinieri, the Lithuanian Public Security Service, and the Portuguese Guarda Nacional Republicana, who were deployed to Kosovo in the context of the upcoming general elections, and it also involved KFOR KTRBN Hungarian Forces.

The Units trained for scenarios of possible need to restoring order and crowd-and-riot control as second security responder, if required, and in accordance with EULEX mandate.
