EULEX donates audio and video recording equipment to Kosovo Police

On 27th of February, the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo donated three portable video/ audio recording devices to be used by police interviewers, to the Directorate of Organised Crime and Serious Crime, the Directorate of Economic Crime and Corruption, and the Special Investigation Unit of the Kosovo Police, which are at the forefront of police anti-corruption investigations. 

While conducting criminal investigations, authorities must safeguard the integrity and accuracy of evidence. Fair and transparent collection of evidence is indeed essential to safeguard the rights to fair trial.

The donation was handed over by the EULEX Head of Monitoring Pillar, Giovanni Galzignato to Fatos Makolli, Director of the Crime Investigation Division, where he stated that “This equipment will enhance their capability to video record witness testimonies or the examination of defendants in accordance with the criminal procedure code.”

On the other hand, Director Makolli expressed his gratitude for the donation which will assist the Directorate of Organised Crime and Serious Crime, the Directorate of Economic Crime and Corruption, and the Special Investigation Unit of the Kosovo Police in their efforts during anti-corruption investigations.
