On 14 May 2026, the Formed Police Unit (FPU) of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) conducted a joint Crowd and Riot Control training together with the Kosovo Police and the Multinational Specialized Unit (MSU) - part of the NATO-led KFOR mission. EULEX is indeed Kosovo’s second security responder, as part of the three-tiered Security Responder Mechanism. The EULEX FPU stands ready to act as second security responder at the explicit request of the first security responder in order to contribute to the maintenance and promotion of public order and security in cases of civil disturbance, to protect the right to security, life, and property of all communities in Kosovo.
