On 23 July 2023, while carrying out their regular reconnaissance patrol in Mitrovica South, members of the EULEX Formed Police Unit came to the assistance of a woman who suffered a medical emergency.

Using the first aid skills they regularly train and prepare for, the officers provided immediate first response care and stayed with the woman until emergency medical services arrived.

The intervention highlights the importance of Basic Life Support and First Aid training, as the actions taken in the first few minutes of an emergency can be crucial and may help save lives before professional medical assistance reaches the scene.
