On 16 October, EULEX donated a total of seven Nissan Pathfinders to two institutions, six to the Basic Court in Mitrovica and one to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Center - Mediation Center Mitrovica (ADRC).
During the ceremony, Bernd Thran, EULEX Deputy Head of Mission, handed the six Nissan Pathfinders over to the President of the Basic Court in Mitrovica, Nikola Kabasic.
“This donation is very important for our work as it will help increase our communication with the court branches,” said Kabasic, who welcomed the cooperation with EULEX.
The other vehicle was handed over by Julien Feuillet, EULEX Head of the Technical Service, to Zana Syla, ADRC Programme Manager. The vehicle will help ADRC carry out its daily activities and fulfill its mission to facilitate access to justice through mediation, primarily - but not exclusively - in the Mitrovica region, and to encourage communication and mutual understanding between communities.
Receiving the donation, Syla said: “This donation is very important for our mediation work in the Mitrovica region, as we have to commute to the branches of the Basic Court in Mitrovica. Now things will be much easier for us as this donation will help us serve all communities.”
The donations come as part of the continuous support by EULEX to Kosovo institutions. The Mission will continue to support local initiatives within its means and capabilities.
