Our organisation values dedicated and talented individuals. To ensure a smooth and efficient application process, we have outlined the following stages for prospective candidates.

Application process

Phase 1 - Preparation of Application

Your application gives us a first impression of your experience and skills. To make an objective assessment, complete all sections carefully and clearly in our working language, English.

How to prepare the application:

  • Understand the Organisation: Learn about our mission, values, culture, and recent developments to tailor your application.
  • Read the Job Description: Understand the required skills, qualifications, and responsibilities.
  • Follow Instructions: Adhere to application instructions precisely. Missing a step can disqualify your application.
  • Submit Early: Submit your application well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute issues.
  • Make yourself familiar with the online submission platform before the application deadline.

Phase 2 - Submission of Application

International Recruitment

  • If you are already registered on Goalkeeper and you have an EU Login, apply here.
  • If you do not have a Goalkeeper account or an EU Login, create your account here.
  • Non-EU nationals: Only seconded nationals of a non-EU Contributing Third State can be proposed by their National Seconding Authority (no personal applications will be considered): please contact your seconding authority to send them your application form.
    Note: We cannot provide contact details of national Seconding authorities. You will have to obtain this yourself.
  • Applications submitted via other channels will not be considered.
    Note: Seconded positions are only available for candidates already validated in the database of their Seconding Authority. You should contact your national Seconding Authority for more information on applying for vacant Seconded positions.

Local Recruitment

Submit your application through the following steps:

  • Online Portal: Complete the online application form on our website, ensuring all required fields are filled out.
  • Application Deadline: Ensure your application is submitted by the specified deadline to be considered for the position.

Phase 3 - Interview Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an in-depth interview with the hiring committee, including competency-based and scenario-based questions.

Panel interviews will be with multiple organization members to assess the candidate's suitability within the team and organization.

EULEX Interviews:

International interviews: Usually conducted via video call.

Local Interviews: Usually conducted in person.

The interview process at EULEX is divided into three phases:

  1. Opening Phase: Introduction and opening questions
  2. Main Phase: Job Related, Competency-Based (CBI) and Scenario-Based Interview (SBI) questions.
  3. Closing Phase: Closing questions and information on the next steps in the process.

Phase 4 - Test/ Written Assignment

Depending on the position, candidates may be required to complete a test or written assignment:

  • A practical test or assignment relevant to the job role to evaluate your technical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • A test to assess your logical reasoning, analytical skills, and overall suitability for the role.
  • Candidates are informed via email of the test/exam schedule and submission deadlines.

Phase 5 - Selection Process

The final selection process involves the following:

  • Review of interview and written test results as applicable: The selection panel will review the interview notes and test results.
  • Final Decision: The selection panel will make its recommendation based on the overall assessment of the results for each candidate. The EULEX Head of Mission or the Managing Director (Civilian Operations Commander - CivOpsCdr) of the Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability (CPCC / Headquarters of civilian CSDP Missions, part of the European External Action Service - EEAS) make their final decision, depending on the position.
  • Reference Checks: The provided referees of the last eight years shall be contacted for verification of previous work experience and inquiries on the character and abilities of the candidate proposed for selection (for contracted candidates only)
  • Selection notification: Successful seconded candidates shall be informed by the seconding authority through CPCC, whereas contracted candidates will receive the notification of provisional selection directly from the Mission.

Tips to help you perform well during the interview

Please see below some tips for a successful interview:

  • Learn about the organisation and the job role before the interview.
  • Dress professionally and comfortably.
  • Be polite and respectful to everyone you meet.
  • Plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early to account for any unforeseen delay if interviewing in person; or log in and wait in the ‘lobby’ if interviewing online. Please be patient, the panel will receive you as soon as they are available. Delays of 10 minutes or more may happen.
  • Practice good body language and eye contact.
  • Listen to the questions carefully and think before you answer.
  • Read and prepare related examples for CBI questions.
  • Relate your answers to how you can contribute to the organization’s success.
  • Keep your answers concise and positive.
  • Reference your accomplishments and skills.
  • Prepare answers for common questions like “Tell me about yourself,” “Why do you want to work here?” and “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
  • Ask the interviewer to repeat or clarify anything you don't understand.
  • Ask any question you think needs clarification and thank the interviewer for their time.
