On 23 and 25 April 2024, the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) hosted a visit of a delegation from the German Police.

The 14 delegation’s members were welcomed by the EULEX Deputy Head of Mission, Emily Rakhorst, who highlighted the importance of the steadfast contribution of Germany to the Mission.

The delegation was later briefed by the Local Spokesperson, Donika Berisha Rizaj about the complex Mission’s mandate, by the Deputy Chief of Case Monitoring Unit, Heidi Heggdal, who presented the robust monitoring of selected cases of the entire Kosovo’s criminal justice chain, and by the Forensic Analyst, Frank Mielke, who explained the role of EULEX experts in supporting the Kosovo Institute of Forensic Medicine and other relevant Kosovo Institutions to shed light on the fate of missing persons.

The delegation had also the opportunity to exchange views with the Head of Human Resources Division, Anita Janassary, and with EULEX staff members seconded by the German Police.

On 25 April, the Delegation’s representatives visited the EULEX Center Mitrovica, where they were briefed by the Commander of the EULEX formed Police Unit (FPU), Krzysztof Kosinski, about the role of the EULEX FPU as Kosovo’s second security responder. Afterwards, from the EULEX Senior Police Advisor North, Peter Neunteufl, they learned more about the work of EULEX’s Police Advisors in supporting the community-oriented policing efforts of the Kosovo Police.
