EULEX Head of Mission, Ms. Alexandra Papadopoulou, met today with the mayors of Mitrovica North, Leposavic, Zubin Potok and Zvecan.  

The meeting, which focused in part on EULEX's new mandate, built upon the good cooperation between the Mission and the municipalities in the north. Ms. Papadoupolou praised the mayors north for their constructive engagement, emphasising that such cooperation is of crucial importance for the mission and the local community.

"EULEX stands ready to continue supporting the strengthening of rule of law institutions in the north, as well as supporting the implementation of agreements reached between Pristina and Belgrade." said Ms. Papadopoulou, adding that judicial integration is an important process which will hopefully be finalized very soon. 

Following the meeting, Ms Papadopoulou visited the Mitrovica Basic Court, where she met with the judges and prosecutors working there to discuss a number of issues, including justice integration and day-to-day activities.
