Continuing a seven-year tradition, EULEX’s Medical Unit together with the Blood Transfusion Centre of Kosovo organized a blood donation event on 17 June 2019 to mark the “World Blood Donor Day”. Aware of the importance of this cause, some 40 EULEX staff members expressed human solidarity through their voluntary blood donations.

“In this way, we show our support to the Blood Transfusion Centre of Kosovo, because it has always been a problem to have blood supplies in stock, especially for emergency cases”, said EULEX Chief of Medical Unit, Cristina Anghelescu.

Melania Gjocaj, Marketing and Information Manager at the Blood Transfusion Centre of Kosovo expressed her gratitude to EULEX and noted: “EULEX is our regular donor, we co-organize donations twice a year. We always see a great interest in volunteer blood donation. We usually have a lot of staff members from the Mission.”

EULEX expresses its gratitude to its staff members for their voluntary blood donation and encourages people in Kosovo and worldwide to donate blood again or become new donors.
June 14 has been declared as the “World Blood Donor Day” by World Health Organization in 2004. This week is dedicated to awareness raising campaigns on the importance of donating blood all over the world under the slogan “Safe Blood for All”.
