EULEX strongly condemns last night's hand grenade attack on the police station in Leposavić/q. This violent act clearly shows that a certain group of people are ready to jeopardize the safety of the local community to prevent the rule of law from being implemented. These acts are a direct threat to peace and stability and they deeply affect ordinary citizens.

"This was a clear attack against the rule of law and, as such, is absolutely unacceptable. Police officers are responsible for the safety of ordinary people and a hand grenade attack on the police station is an attack against the people. This practice must stop and the perpetrators have to be brought to justice," said Head of EULEX, Bernd Borchardt.

An investigation has been launched by EULEX's Task Force Mitrovica and Kosovo Police to find the perpetrator/s. EULEX encourages anyone with information which may be helpful in this case to come forward and contact KP or Task Force Mitrovica at the following number: 038 512 638.

EULEX, again, strongly encourages everyone to refrain from any kind of violence. The rule of law must prevail.
