The EULEX Head of Mission, Xavier de Marnhac, has been asked to extend his mandate by the EU High Representative, Catherine Ashton. Mr de Marnhac said he was happy to do so, in particular to oversee the ongoing reconfiguration of the mission.

‘I am determined to do my best and provide continuity at this turning point for the mission. It is important that EULEX and the Kosovo authorities keep working closely together to enhance and strengthen the rule of law during this period,” said de Marnhac.

The EU Political and Security Committee formally extended the Head of Mission’s mandate for four months until 14 October, 2012
