At the invitation of the Czech Presidency of the EU, EU ambassadors based in Brussels from the 27 member states today visited Kosovo and the EULEX Kosovo mission in order to familiarize themselves with the work carried out by the mission on the ground. The EU ambassadors, who are all delegates from the Political and Security Committee (PSC), help drawing up policies in preparation for Council sessions in Brussels. The PSC also exercises, under the responsibility of the Council, political control and strategic direction of crisis management operations, such as EULEX Kosovo.
“It’s a great pleasure for me to welcome you all here in the newly inaugurated EULEX HQ in Pristina ”Yves de Kermabon said in his welcome speech to the ambassadors. “Since EULEX declared its initial operational capability on 9 December there have been a series of positive results reached, all in close cooperation and coordination with the local authorities. Thanks for you continuous support to EULEX in our work so far”.
During the visit the ambassadors went on field trips around Kosovo and also met with the EU Special Representative and other members of the EU family in Kosovo, representatives of the Kosovo institutions, community leaders, the SRSG, COMKFOR and OSCE.
