From Finland and Sweden to Kosovo: Meet Alexander Fassihi, our Mission’s newest Justice Monitor

13 November 2020

Alexander Fassihi joined the EULEX family recently and took on the job of a Justice Monitor in our Case Monitoring Unit. On this occasion, Finland’s Swedish-language local newspaper “Vasabladet” ran a story on Alexander and his transition to a completely new environment in Kosovo.

“This is an exciting job and I want to contribute to strengthening Kosovo’s justice system,” says Alexander.

Before moving to Kosovo, Alexander worked as a judge in Sweden, so he will have the chance to gain experience in a whole new justice system. Now, as a Justice Monitor, apart from monitoring the local justice system, he also supports Kosovo’s prosecutors and judges by offering his legal expertise.

Kosovo will be Alexander’s new home for at least a year. Due to the pandemic, he hasn’t been able to get the feel of his new home yet. Despite this, he is eager to work with colleagues from all over Europe and to explore the culture and the environment where he will be living the next few months.
