On 10 October, a delegation of the European Gendarmerie Force
(EUROGENDFOR) was hosted by the European Union Rule of Law Mission in
Kosovo (EULEX).
The visit began at the EULEX Headquarters in
Pristina, where the delegation, led by EUROGENDFOR’s Commander, Colonel
Hans Vroegh, was welcomed by the Head of EULEX, Giovanni Pietro Barbano.
Barbano
expressed his gratitude to Colonel Vroegh for the crucial contribution
of the European Gendarmerie Force to the EULEX’s Reserve Formed Police
Unit (RFPU), while also discussing possible opportunities for future
cooperation in order to respond to the Mission’s need for resources on
the ground, which optimizes the support to Mission’s Kosovo
counterparts.
During the day, the Delegation also visited, at the
EULEX Support Compound in Fushë Kosovë/Kosovo Polje, the Italian
Carabinieri and the Lithuanian public security officers who make up the
current Reserve Formed Police Unit (RFPU)
They concluded the day
by visiting the EULEX Centre Mitrovica, where the delegation was briefed
on the recent security developments in northern Kosovo, on the work of
the EULEX’s Formed Police Unit, consisting of 105 Police Officers
seconded by Poland, and on the overall Mission’s contribution to the
stability in Kosovo and the security of all communities.
