On 10 October, a delegation of the European Gendarmerie Force (EUROGENDFOR) was hosted by the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX).

The visit began at the EULEX Headquarters in Pristina, where the delegation, led by EUROGENDFOR’s Commander, Colonel Hans Vroegh, was welcomed by the Head of EULEX, Giovanni Pietro Barbano.

Barbano expressed his gratitude to Colonel Vroegh for the crucial contribution of the European Gendarmerie Force to the EULEX’s Reserve Formed Police Unit (RFPU), while also discussing possible opportunities for future cooperation in order to respond to the Mission’s need for resources on the ground, which optimizes the support to Mission’s Kosovo counterparts.

During the day, the Delegation also visited, at the EULEX Support Compound in Fushë Kosovë/Kosovo Polje, the Italian Carabinieri and the Lithuanian public security officers who make up the current Reserve Formed Police Unit (RFPU)

They concluded the day by visiting the EULEX Centre Mitrovica, where the delegation was briefed on the recent security developments in northern Kosovo, on the work of the EULEX’s Formed Police Unit, consisting of 105 Police Officers seconded by Poland, and on the overall Mission’s contribution to the stability in Kosovo and the security of all communities.
