12 May 2017

Yesterday, Head of EULEX Mission, Alexandra Papadopoulou attended the regular Joint Rule of Law Coordination Board (JRCB) meeting chaired by outgoing Minister of Justice, Dhurata Hoxha. The Head of EU Office/EUSR, Nataliya Apostolova, Chair of the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC), Nehat Idrizi, Chair of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC), Blerim Isufi, as well as officials of other rule of law institutions were also present.

During the JRCB meeting, EULEX Head of Mission Alexandra Papadopoulou said that, whilst Kosovo rule of law sector is moving in the right direction, many of its elements still need attention, especially when it comes to aligning the existing legislation and practices with EU standards. "EULEX advocates for an overarching and comprehensive review of the rule of law that would deal with all existing problems together. This will ensure that all the elements are complimentary with each other and in line with EU standards and Kosovo's EU aspirations”
