REESAH students visit EULEX Headquarters

28 March 2019

Yesterday, EULEX’s Deputy Head of Mission, Bernd Thran, hosted a group of 12 students from the French association, REESAH, where he gave a presentation about the history of EULEX since 2008 and the rule of law in Kosovo. The study visit coincides with EULEX’s outreach efforts to increase awareness of the Mission’s 2018-2020 mandate.

The Head of EULEX’s Human Rights and Legal Office, Paul Flynn, also spoke throughout the presentation about criminal justice and human rights in Kosovo, while the Mission’s Spokesperson, Donika Berisha Rizaj provided a general overview of the Mission.

The EULEX team played a promotional video for the students that provided an overview of the substantial process in which EULEX handed over its police, prosecutorial and judicial case files to the Kosovo authorities.

Mr Thran and Mr Flynn then responded to a number of interesting questions from the students about the past and the present, sparking an engaging discussion about international assistance to Kosovo in general.

REESAH (Réseau d’étudiants spécialisés dans l’action humanitaire) is a French student network created in 2015 by students of Aix-Marseille University which aims to raise awareness on humanitarian action.
