27 April 2009
On the occasion of 27 April, the National Day of the Missing Persons in Kosovo, the Head of Mission, Yves de Kermabon, has made the following statement:
“Ten years after the conflict, there are still around 1900 persons unaccounted for in Kosovo. EULEX understands the pain and anguish felt by the families and friends of the disappeared and re-affirms its full commitment to assist the local authorities to clarify the fate of the missing persons of all communities. EULEX staff and their colleagues from the Ministry of Justice/OMPF are working together to bring answers to the questions surrounding this crucially important issue. The families have a right to know what happened to their loved ones. The Missing will not be forgotten.”
