The EULEX Head of Mission Xavier de Marnhac has met the President of Serbia, Boris Tadic, in Belgrade.
The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere. The main issue covered was the need to significantly improve freedom of movement in northern Kosovo.
The Head of Mission stressed the fact that the barricades in the north should come down and that there should be permanent and unconditional access for everyone including EULEX and international organisations.
The restoration of free movement is an absolute prerequisite for effective rule of law throughout Kosovo.
“The meeting went well. I raised some important issues. I welcome Mr. Tadic’s recent call for the barricades to come down in northern Kosovo. I trust action will follow. It is important that there is full movement on the roads of northern Kosovo, not only for EULEX and KFOR but also for the people so they can go about their normal, every day lives,” said Xavier de Marnhac.
