The EULEX Head of Mission Xavier de Marnhac finished his two-day visit in Belgrade, which is part of his regular series of meetings in the region.
He met family associations of the missing, representatives of civil society, EU ambassadors as well as Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Minister Goran Bogdanovic. In his meetings with the ministers technical matters relating to the rule of law were discussed – specifically relating to northern Kosovo and to the fight against organised crime. There was a common understanding that more could and should be done in the fight against organised crime.
The Head of Mission emphasised that EULEX is an EU institution backed by all 27 member states and that Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, and Jose Manuel Barroso, the President of the European Commission, reaffirmed their full support to EULEX during their recent visits to Kosovo.
