Yesterday 9 November, at the District Court in Peja/Pec, a mixed panel of judges, composed of one Kosovo judge and two EULEX judges, found V.C. guilty of committing war crimes and sentenced him to seven years in prison.

V.C. was found guilty of expelling one family from the town of Kline/Klina by ordering them to vacate their house and leave the town, and burning the houses of two families at the end of March 1999.

At that time, V.C. was a member of the Serbian Police.

V.C., after being extradited from Norway, was arrested in Kosovo on 13 July 2010.

The prosecution was represented by a EULEX prosecutor from the Peja/Pec region who acted under the delegated authority of the SPRK (Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office).

According to the law, the defendant has the right to appeal.
