The United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 from the year 2000 is a landmark agreement focusing on women, peace and security. It calls for the full and equal participation and involvement of women in all efforts of maintaining and promoting peace and security, and for strengthening efforts to prevent violence against women. Since its adoption it has become the organizing framework for actions on gender and peace, including in the context of CSDP missions. The text of the resolution can be found in the UN-section.
Directives are legal acts of the European Union, setting goals that the member states are required to achieve. The following ones are most useful for reaching gender equality.
